6 week pottery course overview:
Week 1: Introduction to the studio, you will get the tour, we will discuss what clay we are using and other clay types, the plan for the course and make pinch pot vases
Week 2: We will make large coil pots, I will show you the technique and what options you have with coiling.
Week 3: We will refine last week's coil pots and work on surface decoration and sculpture
Week 4: We will make some slab-built items, usually we make a wall planter or hanging and a box of some sort.
Week 5: You can make whatever you like this week using your favourite method we have covered so far.
Break Week if needed to allow things to dry before their bisque fire.
Week 6: You will glaze the things you have made.
Each course comes with a PDF on the basics of handbuilding, preparing your clay and glazing. We like to keep the groups small and cozy so there is a max of 5 people on each course, you are welcome to bring biscuits and I'll have a pot of tea on the go. I want people to make things they want to keep or have an interest in learning or trying so we spend some time at the end of each session planning for the next week, what we are going to make and how.
